Player Profile: Seán Bailey-Whyte

Name: Seán Bailey-Whyte

Code/Team: Hurling/Football (I think the term, ‘Dual Player’ implies a more elevated standard!)

Occupation: e-learning administrator

Field position: Forwards

How long have you played with the Gaels? I'm now in my third season.

When did you start playing hurling/football? When I was seven or eight.

What’s your favorite thing about Gaelic games? The community aspect, playing for ‘pride of the parish’, which also absolutely applies to playing with the D.C. Gaels.

Best trainers on the squad: Kevin Brady/Terence

Most skillful players: Danny Green is a great reader of the game (skill in itself) and if he applied himself, Colm Everard has the potential to be a lovely hurler.

Biggest joker: TJ or Tony Morrissey

Odd item in your GAA kit bag: A selection of knee strappings are about the height of it.

Ambition for the 2020 season: Getting out onto the field would be nice! And getting back in one piece from any trips away are always a small victory in themselves.

If you could choose two players to join the squads, who would they be? It'd be either Joe Canning or Brian Fenton.

Sporting idol: Seán Óg Ó hAilpín presented hurling medals when I was about 11 which instantly gave him hero status and also, the Clare team of the 90’s.

Best sporting advice you’ve received: Simple messages like keeping your eye on the ball always ring true.

Why should someone join the Gaels: Place for everyone - you’ll fall into step with many on the team while also getting to maintain (or get!) fit.
