Women's footballers get a second chance, and men's footballers defeat Seán Óg

On the second, sunny day of USGAA Finals, our womens' team got a second shot at the target and the men's team took on Boston's Seán Óg club in a semi-final.

Despite the previous day's defeat against Seán Óg's, some unexpected developments led to the result being overturned and the Gaels women's footballers moving on to compete again today. Our team took the field against the Miltown Gaels from Milwaukee at 11:30, and from the throw-in put in a hard effort for every single ball. Passing was solid and none of the opponents' scores were easily given. In the end, the scoreline in no way reflected how well the women played on the pitch, never walking, always running for every ball. Although they didn't clinch the win in the end, they could hold their heads high for a strong performance this season. Photos from the women's game are here.

The men took the pitch in the afternoon at 4:00pm against Seán Óg's. It was getting hot and muggy at this stage of the day, but that didn't stop anyone from putting in the hard yards. The footballers were tenacious fighters throughout and despite a few hairy moments in front of the goal, kept the local Bostonians at an arms length throughout the match to clinch the win. Photos from the men's game are here. The footballers play again tomorrow morning at 8:30am in the final against Fionn MacCumhaills. Stay tuned!
