Footballers make an appearance at Raleigh tournament

Both the Gaels men's and women's football teams sent squads down to participate in the Andrew Britton Memorial Cup in Raleigh, NC on June 5th, putting in a good showing for the club and each taking home a win from the games.

The women's team played a hard-fought opener against Charlotte and despite some excellent passing, clever ball movement, and goals by Christina Petrocelli and Gail Kelley, ultimately fell just short of clinching the win. In their second game of the day against Raleigh, the Gaels marked up a convincing win, with the help of a couple borrowed players to fill out the roster.

The men's team opened their day of play against Raleigh and came away with a convincing win against the home side, netting three goals throughout the match. In the second game of the day against a fresh Charlotte squad, the team—lacking any subs—ran up against some tired legs by the end of the match, but still put in a strong performance.
